About

I’m a piano and music theory teacher and teach from my home in Redfield (BS5).

I love teaching and am motivated by seeing students constantly surprised and delighted by their own achievements.

I work together with each student to establish what interests and inspires them and to create a learning process that suits them.

We keep it varied and interesting, covering all the essentials for a solid musical foundation – theory, aural, scales, arpeggios and sightreading – along with countless tricks and techniques for learning and practising pieces.

For adults

I know from my own experience of learning as an adult that there’s something exciting about getting the opportunity to focus on your own interests and skills, effectively ‘dedicating’ some time to yourself.

As adults this doesn’t happen often enough! We don’t hesitate to encourage kids to learn new skills, but often forget how exciting and boundary-breaking learning can be for us too.

Learning – or restarting – the piano as an adult has so many positives, but I think the buzz of realising you’ve broken your own perceived limitations is unbeatable. And this absolutely applies to everyone, whatever your skill set; if you put in the effort, you will achieve things you didn’t expect, and your confidence will shoot up.
